Our team's safety is non-negotiable. This policy explains conditions where we cannot or will not perform service.
Conditions We Do Not Service
Biohazardous Conditions
We are not licensed or trained to handle biohazards. We do not clean:
- Blood, bodily fluids, or vomit (beyond minor incidental amounts)
- Animal waste accumulations
- Crime scenes or accident sites
- Sewage backups or water damage with sewage exposure
- Areas exposed to communicable disease (recent COVID, hepatitis, etc.)
For these situations, you'll need a certified biohazard remediation company.
Mold
We do not perform mold remediation. We can:
- Wipe minor surface mold in damp areas (bathroom corners, etc.)
- Notify you if we suspect a mold issue
For active mold problems, contact a licensed mold remediation specialist.
Pest Infestations
We do not service homes with active pest problems:
- Bed bugs
- Cockroach infestations
- Rodent infestations (active)
- Flea infestations
If our team encounters pests during service, they will document, notify you, and may leave the property. Pest issues must be resolved by a licensed pest control company before we resume service.
Hoarding Situations
We do not perform hoarding cleanup. This requires specialized training, often with mental health professionals involved. For hoarding cleanup, contact a hoarding specialist (search "hoarding cleanup San Jose").
Hazardous Materials
We don't handle:
- Asbestos (any form)
- Lead paint dust or chips
- Chemical spills (we'll wipe minor household spills, not industrial)
- Drug residue contamination (meth labs, etc.)
Unsafe Structural Conditions
We will leave any property where conditions threaten our team's safety:
- Active gas leaks
- Exposed electrical wiring
- Floor or ceiling damage that could collapse
- No running water or working bathrooms (we need water for cleaning)
- Extreme temperatures (no heat in winter, no AC in extreme heat)
Animals
Per our Pet Policy, aggressive or unsecured animals will result in our team leaving the premises.
What Happens If We Encounter These Conditions
- Our team will document the condition (with photos when possible)
- You will be notified immediately by phone
- The team will leave the property
- The full service fee applies if conditions were undisclosed
- We may decline future service or require resolution before returning
Pre-Existing Conditions vs. Surprises
If you disclose unusual conditions at booking and we accept the job, we'll do our best with appropriate equipment and expectations. The conditions above are different — they require specialized professionals or resolution before standard cleaning is safe and effective.
What If a Team Member Gets Sick?
If a team member feels unwell during service, they will:
- Stop work immediately
- Notify you
- Leave the property
- We'll reschedule at no charge to you
This protects both team members and your household.
Communicable Disease Protocols
If anyone in your household has a communicable illness (flu, COVID, etc.):
- Tell us at booking — we'll reschedule if appropriate
- Don't ask us to "clean while sick people are present" — this is unfair to our team
- If you become aware after booking, contact us to reschedule
Climate Considerations
Bay Area weather is generally cooperative, but we may reschedule for:
- Extreme heat (over 105°F) for safety
- Air quality emergencies (wildfire smoke at unhealthy levels)
- Major storms with travel advisories
